SearchCamp Philly!
We're launching the first ever, SearchCamp here in Philadelphia September 6th and 7th, 2008. Talk about an exciting time to be in the Delaware Valley and to be in online marketing!
Since this is our first foray into a "somewhat unconference" conference (the IM-DV group came together to plan the agenda, but there's open slots to do your own thing if you like), we've teamed up with PodCamp Philly to present a weekend of great information by great speakers with a whole bunch of fun. If you don't walk away with some new ideas, and great things to implement, we'll be thinking you might have been sleeping through the sessions.
So How Was SearchCamp Philly Formed?
- A community of online marketers from the Internet Marketers of the Delaware Valley (marketers from the Philadelphia, New Jersey, Deleware and Eastern Pennsylvania regions) have been working on this since late last year to put the event togeter.
- The IM-DV community came together much like an "unconference" does and as a community put together an agenda (complete with using whiteboards!) that small businesses could see what they could learn before they signed up
- The IM-DV community left open sessions with PodCamp Philly for attendees to put in their own sessions if they like.
- The IM-DV community wanted to present ethical and useful information that business can take back and immediately apply to their businesses.
- The IM-DV Community wanted to make sure that attendees would not be overwhelmed with sessions that just tried to "sell" or "pitch" attendees products and/or services, or be presented with out of date information about the online marketing industry. Speakers involved are the top in the local field and all are very active in online marketing community.
- The IM-DV community wanted to give back to the world of small business, as well as help out a great cause, no speakers are paid - the $21 registration is donated to Philadelphia's Science Leadership Academy, which is definitely a worthy cause!
So why are we doing SearchCamp in Philly?
Well as a community, IM-DV decided it was time to launch something local and affordable to the area for small businesses to learn about all the different facets of online marketing. From SEO, PPC, Social Media, Public Relations on the web, brand and repuationation management online, Analytics and a whole line up of other topics, we wanted to bring it a small, but enthusiatic audience here first. We have a great location - we're just 2 hours from New York City, Harrisbur, Washington D.C. or Baltimore we have a great mix of local flavor and believe it or not we have do have some exciting technology companies in the area that are doing great things on the web. So the question we say is "Why not in Philadelphia!?"SearchCamp Philly - Quick Details
