From the Search Camp Press Release....
Thursday July 31, 2008— Philadelphia, PA—Philadelphia might not be the first place people look to for an online marketing conference, but a group of marketers from the Internet Marketers of the Delaware Valley (IM-DV) think it’s time to make a change. The group began looking to start a local online marketing conference to help fellow marketers as well as small business owners to help bring the basics of marketing on the Internet to the Philadelphia area.
The IM-DV group looked to fellow online media enthusiasts, PodCamp Philly, for help. PodCamp Philly had its first successful event last year at Drexel University. Inspired by the conference, one of IM-DV’s members, Liana “Li” Evans of Limerick, decided to contact PodCamp Philly’s organizers Whitney Hoffman and Bill Rowland to see if they could work together to bring a dual conference to the city of brotherly love.
“They put on such a great event with PodCamp Philly last year that it inspired me to try and bring a similar event for online marketers to the Philly area,” Evans explained. “Whitney’s group at PodCamp did an amazing job and we hope to only add on to that with our new SearchCamp conference.”
SearchCamp is designed to be an affordable and fun way for small businesses and marketers to learn about how to market their businesses online. Topics range from Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC), Search Engine Optimization (SEO Basics) to Public Relations & the Internet and Web 2.0 Technologies. Speakers are from the local Philadelphia area as well as New York City and Washington D.C.
“Geoff Livingston, author of Now is Gone, and Debbie Weil, author of The Corporate Blogging Book, have both agreed to join our great speaking lineup,” Evans continued. “As well we have some very talented marketers from the local area who’ve given their time to make this great event a reality. Of course we can’t thank the PodCamp team enough, they’ve helped us pull this together, too.”
The SearchCamp event is going to be held in conjunction with the PodCamp Philly event on September 6th & 7th, 2008 at the Tuttleman Center at Temple University. And the cost is just under $21.00 to attend both camps for 2 days. For more information about the SearchCamp
event visit the website SearchCampPhilly.com or the PodCamp website at PodCampPhilly.com. Information about sessions, sponsorships and registration are on both websites.
